Young the Giant is an American rock band from Irvine, California. There are five members: Sameer Gadhia, Jacob Tilley, Eric Cannata, Payam Doostzadeh, and Frencois Comtois. The band is most well-known for their singles, "Cough Syrup", "My Body", and "Apartment." The band is signed with the label Fueled by Ramen.
Formation
The band was first known as "The Jakes" in 2004. The original members were Jacob Tilley, Addam Farmer, Kevin Massoudi, Ehson Hashemian, and Sameer Gadhia. The band name was an acronym of the member's first names. The Jakes went through personnel changes and later renamed themselves as Young the Giant with its current members in January 2010.

Young the Giant (2010)
Their first album, Young the Giant was recorded with the help of Joe Chiccarelli, who previously produced albums for The Shins, The Strokes, and Saints of Valory. Young the Giant believed in transparency, they only reocorded songs that they can reproduce in a live show. Eventually, the band performed shows with Marina and the Diamonds, The Futureheads, Neon Trees, and New Politics.
Mind Over Matter (2013)
Mind Over Matter is the band's second album with popular singles, such as "It's About Time", "Crystallized", and "Mind Over Matter." The album was produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen.
Home of the Strange (2016)
The band released it's third album, Home of the Strange in August 2016. The popular tracks are "Amerika", "Something to Believe In", and "Silvertongue". The band is currently on their U.S. tour performing their latest hits.
